because the only thing standing between you and starting is the fear of what might happen if you do

So there's this canvas that's been sitting in my garage since 2024. I thrifted it from Goodwill with the intention of repurposing it. I painted "all you can do is try" on it and then realized mid-painting that I forgot the word "can" so I had to squeeze it in tiny between the other words like a little embarrassing afterthought. A whole mistake, right there, permanent on the canvas in front of me. So naturally I put it in the garage and didn't look at it for the last 2 years, because that's what we do right, we hide the evidence of our mistakes and move on.

Last week I dragged it back out, not because I had some great vision, but just because I had this urge to create something and it was the only canvas I had. I had leftover spray paint from that same 2024 session and a chair to prop it up as a stand, and that was literally it. Just me, some old paint, and a canvas that had already survived one mistake so it could probably survive another.

So this is me trying. Trying to create for the sake of creating, in the one space where I feel the most vulnerable, and choosing to trust myself through the process anyway. And then sharing it, which somehow feels even scarier than the making.
